Filtration

Offline Thermal Fluid Filtration Systems

There is now a range of offline filtration units available to suit all thermal fluid systems.

The use of such a system can help to ensure a more cost effective, clean and efficient thermal fluid system.

  • Units are available for all size and temperatures of systems
  • Twin pass filters of 15 micron and 3 micron absolute rating
  • 0.8 micron nominal rating
  • Absorption of carbon insoluble deposits/sludge
  • Absorption of acidic products of oxidation (Organic Acid indicated by TAN)
  • Absorption of water in both free and dissolved state
  • Energy savings
  • Cost effective system operation – avoid down time and seal wear to pumps and valves
  • Example of a single typical filter insert – holds 4 litres of dirt and has a surface area of more than 2 cubic metres
  • Filters are modular units designed to suit your specific application and the unit will be appropriately sized to clean up your heat transfer oil system.

Dump Tank Filter Systems

Products of thermal cracking or oxidation often end up in the dump tank where there is a connection from the header or expansion vessel. This results in water, acid, volatile material and carbon sludge gathering over time.

If there is thermal expansion and hot oil is pushed through the expansion tank into the dump, or oil is drained into the dump so maintenance can be carried out, the result is instantly contaminated oil.

Filtration units are available and advisable here to periodically remove these products from the tank.

Any moisture that condensates in the dump tank will flash to steam in the event that there is hot oil pushed into the tank. This is an important health and safety issue and has been highlighted already by factions of the insurance industry.
